Fish with Capers and White Beans

Last night’s dinner was 💯!! Seriously, so so good - like restaurant quality good! 👩🏼‍🍳

I tried ocean perch fish fillets from FreshDirect it’s delish! I usually go for cod but ocean perch might be my new fave! 🐟

The best part of this dish was how easy it was to whip up! Literally, it only took about 10 minutes! 🕰

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

  • 1 shallot or ½ a small onion, sliced

  • 2-3 cloves garlic, sliced or minced

  • salt & pepper (+ optional red pepper flakes), to taste

  • 2 fillets of flaky white fish (cod, tilapia, halibut, flounder)

  • ½ of a lemon, juiced

  • ½ cup chicken or veg broth

  • 1 tablespoon butter (any kind)

  • 3 tablespoons capers, drained

  • 1 can cannellini beans, rinsed and drained

  • 2 tablespoons parsley, chopped

  1. Sauté onions & garlic in olive oil. Season with salt, pepper (optional red pepper flakes or harissa) and continue to cook until onions are softened. If you are going to be using salted butter in step 3, be mindful about how much salt you add in. You can always add more at the end.

  2. Bring the onion mixture to the side of the pan and place in your fish fillet (skin side up first), let cook for about 5 minutes then flip so skin is down.

  3. Add broth, lemon juice, & butter (enough to have the fillet sit on the sauce to finish cooking).

  4. Add in the drained capers, unwashed white beans, and chopped parsley.

  5. Cover the pan and simmer over medium heat until everything is warmed through and fish is opaque and can be flaked with a fork.

  6. Devour & enjoy over rice or quinoa, or grain of your choice.
